Multimedia in Uruguay: Sustainable Tourism

In August – September 2013, I traveled with a group of eight University of Oregon journalism students along the coast of Uruguay. We followed the Route of the Whale, learning along the way about the complex environmental and social issues of Uruguay. Through our work with the Organización para la Conservación de Cetaceos, we documented whale migration and the factors that affect it along the route.

This particular video is a piece I created about sustainable tourism along the Route of the Whale. From the tourist town of Punta del Este to the sustainable, electricity-devoid town of Cabo Polonio, tourism and eco-tourism greatly impact marine life in Uruguay.
